STAR In Giudecca again, a sign reading "iCon" leads me to the exhibition of Indian contemporary art. It is, by far, the most enticing collection at the Biennale. Its centerpiece is Crossings; Two Stories, a four-screen DVD projection by the wellknown Indian painter Ranbir Kaleka. This accomplished video work superimposes movie pictures against painted stills, as one narrative is woven across each screen to cross and eventually tie up with another. This may or may not play into the Biennale's prize-giving mentality. But it suits Venice, which understands how great art can emerge from great mystery. |
